State Prosecutors Uncover Suspected Reasons Behind Charlie Kirk Assassination

Proof presented from local lawyers this week shed light on what they believe drove Tyler Robinson to allegedly kill conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Obtained Texts Point To Ideological Motivation

Among text messages reproduced in the state, Robinson is quoted telling his roommate—described as “transitioning genders”—that he had enough of Kirk’s “inflammatory rhetoric”.

“Some hate can’t be resolved through discussion,” Robinson reportedly stated.

The state claim that Robinson’s mother informed investigators her son had over the past year become “more political” and had started shifting to the left, embracing LGBTQ+ rights.

Family Tensions and Political Differences

His new outlook allegedly led to arguments with relatives, particularly with Robinson and his father, who maintained very different beliefs.

Earlier news coverage indicated that Robinson’s parents were active GOP voters who supported Donald Trump in 2024.

Court documents referenced a message in which Robinson referred to his father as “pretty diehard maga”.

Planning and Carrying Out of the Shooting

According to prosecutors, Robinson commented on Kirk’s event at Utah Valley University, calling it a “stupid venue”.

The suspect’s parent informed police that Robinson had accused Kirk of “promoting intolerance”.

After the incident, Robinson’s parents allegedly recognized their son in a security image released in the news.

Robinson’s father, a licensed hunter, feared the weapon used in the killing matched one he had given to his son.

Confession and Arrest

During a talk with his father, Tyler Robinson reportedly confessed to the killing, stating there was “excessive hatred” and that Kirk “promoted division”.

The suspect later surrendered to police with the assistance of a close acquaintance who was a local law enforcement official.

Evidence and Accusations

Prosecutors pointed to genetic material found on the rifle abandoned near the university, as well as messages to his roommate, as critical evidence tying Robinson to the crime.

Engravings on bullet casings discovered near the location included words such as “hey fascist” and “O bella ciao”.

However the accused reportedly downplayed these engravings in a text as “fuckin … mostly a big meme”.

Roommate’s Inquiry and Response

Among the texts, the roommate asked Robinson, “It wasn’t you, was it?”

Robinson—who referred to his roommate his “love”—allegedly replied, “Yes, and I apologize.”

Additionally, he expressed regret for “dragging into” the partner and stated that he had wanted to keep the truth until he died of old age.

Legal Actions and Potential Penalty

The accused faces capital murder, and the state announced they intend to seek the maximum punishment upon he is convicted.

One element mentioned was that Robinson targeted Kirk based on his beliefs and speech.

Jeff Gray, chief attorney in the jurisdiction, emphasized that the choice to pursue the death penalty was made without external influence and guided only by the facts and severity of the crime.
