The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

As any significant awards ceremony nears, there’s always a clamor for introducing fresh award types to honor overlooked contributions and satisfy the hearts of enthusiasts with niche passions.

My colleague has already made for a horror game category. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are board games, representing someone's personal cause. However, I must insist for pushing forward since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial above others. Here's the proposal: We need a category for puzzle games.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works isn't exact; it remains highly personal, and it will always start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why cinema institutions avoid this approach. Yet it remains an unavoidable compromise within the realm of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, allowing placement for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Consider three of this year’s best games, all very different: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition completely that year
  • Another creative title received no nominations that year
  • Popular arranging title got ignored that year
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

Commonly they're compact experiences, however the design in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games rank among the most-played games worldwide maintaining this status for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with famous sandbox experiences competing to become best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, and engaging across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. One could readily select a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games every year with ease — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

To emphasize again, these are games that otherwise have no home at major gaming awards. Brain-teaser creators function at the demanding boundary game development, creating some of the purest expressions of gaming itself. Just like film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
